What is HALO?
The road to a sustainable, carbon neutral country is laid with HALO
HALO is a sustainable alternative to conventional asphalts. It is a low temperature base and binder containing recycled materials revolutionising the surfacing industry by creating a carbon-friendly product that offers exceptional performance and laying times compared to conventional asphalts.
Benefits of HALO

Recycling: Putting whatwe take out, back in
HALO reduces the need for importing virgin stone by using existing roads as our sustainable quarry. Stone aggregate is a finite resource and we have a sustainable solution and a lifecycle approach to better roads:

Rubber Tyres
Recycling
More than 55m waste tyres are generated in the UK each year
HALO’s rubber modified asphalt incorporates recycled tyres into our warm mix asphalt technology to provide a carbon saving of up to 8%. Converting old tyres into new roads and footpaths helps to offset the environmental impact of highways maintenance activities and contributes to the local sustainability drive. Rubber modified asphalts incorporate the rubber from one tyre per tonne of asphalt which is the equivalent of 500 tyres per kilometre of road. As part of our continued commitment to innovation, Huyton Asphalt laid the first rubber modified asphalt in the North West in 2020.
